Why should I support this project given Kickstarter's blockchain plans?
We have been in direct contact with Kickstarter about the need to clarify their plans. A preliminary FAQ has been posted at https://www.kickstarter.com/articles/lets-build-whats-next-for-crowdfunding-creative-projects and they have promised more clarity will be posted on how proposed changes benefit creators and will not harm the planet.
While that process is working through, I personally believe that supporting an ethical (and very much struggling) small business who is in blunt and direct communication with Kickstarter about the need for ethical practices and clear communication and who will always look for alternatives outweighs other considerations at this point.
We navigate these issues all the time and have seen how the burden of corporate timelines falls disproportionally on indie small business. Indies rely on a number of big corporations to make and provide accessibility to our art. Yes, these corporations need to feel pressure on ethical issues. But I believe keeping indies viable during that ongoing fight is critical to that fight. We are constantly dodging new and unexpected arrows from every big platform out there. It’s exhausting.
If you are concerned about this issue, I recommend emailing Kickstarter with a demand for clarity on what blockchain technologies and practices would be incorporated, specifics on which practices you will not support, and a reminder that your continued support is contingent on an appropriate resolution.
And if you are going to boycott Kickstarter until there is a resolution, I urge you to boycott big, high-dollar tech projects to make that point, not progressive indie small publishers (very much) struggling to stay afloat.

Why didn't you remove the snow from the chair?
Well I tried to! I knocked the chair so most of it fell off, but I didn’t want to use my gloves since I also needed to hold my phone, and thought, eh, it’ll be quick and hopefully I can sit on my nice warm coat. But I did not sit on my coat; it folded up behind me, and the thin layer of snow immediately melted into my pants and became freezing water against my skin.
The show must go on.

The hardcover book will be sold on our website - but only if this campaign is successful. (And ordering now helps us very much with production costs, so thank you.) Paperback and e-book formats will be available online independent of this campaign.

We know it’s expensive - the world is in quite a place right now, as you know. In general, there’s not much we can do about that, since the signed books are shipping from Michigan. If you have a special circumstance or are looking for multiple copies, let us know and we can see if we can help.

Will international backers pay tax or customs fees for shipped items?
Yes, you may have to. This varies by country, has recently increased in some regions, and we don’t know what may be required for your pick-up. All physical items for this campaign will be shipped from Michigan, increasing the chance of in-country fees.
No packages will be marked differently (e.g. “gift”) to avoid this. Thank you for understanding.

Is a project image and video description available?
Yep!
The project image shows the preliminary cover for Night Ivy. This cover is dark as night, yet highlighted by a mix of glowing green bricks and wandering purple ivy. The title and author name are handwritten in tall, thin letters in a shade of white.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
