Latest Updates from Our Project:

Last 11 hours for Inkbloom!
about 2 years ago – Mon, Dec 05, 2022 at 08:50:34 AM

A quick note to say, I am going hard on social media these last 12 hours trying to get people to see the pre-orders for Inkbloom before I take a much needed break from these exhaustive campaigns. But I wanted (needed?) to give my little book a chance before powering down!

I really, really, love Inkbloom. I hope you will too. (I should have cover art to share before too long; it's going to be so good.) And if you are able to consider backing, it ends tonight at 10 EST: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/atthisarts/inkbloom

Funds are tight all around, at least in our communities. So, please, don't hesitate to take me up on ordering the e-book for $1. It would make me really happy to see you over there, and then you'll see the updates on the cover art, etc.

If you have energy to join in with me for this last push (only if you do; you're fine!) I'll see and like - and even better if you're able to make a post of your own that I can share. (A fresh post, a quote tweet, whatever works.) Thank you! ♥ ♥ ♥

We've currently funded 17% of my total costs for the book - I'm so excited! But, you know, this mountain is almost climbed so I'm not giving up until the timer hits zero. You know me.

Let's do this!   : D

Stick Emily climbing mountain labeled with lots of books and projects.
An understated representation of my year.

Book two, a total No Way (Way!), and join me for a reading today. (Yeah, I'm fired up.)

What'd happened was:

Soo... you may have seen that I spent all of November trying to get some support to our Treasures campaign. It was awesome and we funded the C. S. E. Cooney audiobook for Alanna McFall's The Traveling Triple-C Incorporeal Circus! Yay and thank you so much.

Between us friends, and as I'd said the whole time, even though we totally did this to fund the audiobook and that happened, I really wanted to get to $25K so that we could fund Greg's audiobooks and my print run. Not because the sequels are our focus but because I didn't want them to be our focus. See, they don't need to be; both Inkbloom and Renegade (I've read it and...!) are honestly amazing and will not lack for my love and care. But finding money IS an energy burden, and I really do want that big energy for the new stuff. We have two amazing trans books coming up (Be the Sea by Clara Ward and Pluralities by Avi Silver) plus a very-soon-to-be-announced important humanitarian project.

And as for me, I did a loooota work trying to get past that $5000 zone and ended up not really doing it. I just can't keep doing this grind, exhausting myself on the internet for ever-elusive community attention. Some of you have seen what it does to my mental health. Which is saying a lot since I'm mentally disabled without crowdfunding, with it, I'm...well. It's a lot.

So back to these dollars: that was about $10K needed for The Gray Assassin, and $10K needed for my Alyssia. (This is including shipping, fees, and such.)

Chris and Greg believe they can get the Gray Assassin audiobooks funded. They don't want me worrying about it or burning myself out for it. We did it, after all - we got the Grayshade trilogy and RPG funded. (Remember that? I sure as hell do.) Let us take it for a bit, they said.

Um. Ok. But ... Inkbloom?

Well, you know me. So I took it upon myself and did a thing.

Look, I love this book even more than I love Night Ivy and that's saying a lot. It just fell out of my fingers. I mean, it was a lot of work, but it was like a vision that I had to keep chipping to get to, not one I had to force, in any way. I LOVE THIS BOOK.

So, like you know what I want:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/atthisarts/inkbloom

And here's the thing. This is INCREDIBLE. In the first 12 hours, we'd funded about 10% of the upfront Inkbloom costs. Now we're (checks again) past 11%!

Every pledge to this eases my burden. Plus! It's a good deal to get Inkbloom for a dollar - please do take me up on it; it's why it's there. Yeah, I have to pay for the hardcovers, but most of all, I want to share my stories.

Two more things related to the Treasures campaign:

  • This is the last chance, really and truly to order the exclusive Night Ivy candle, which I think would make a lovely gift for you or extra special treat. (It's a little pricey, but it will be special, if it's something you can swing.)
  • If anyone is up for the $500 level on this...tbh? I'm probably going to have some extra stuff re: minimum orders on these treasures. So you might just get a little extra for your generosity. : )

Anyway, BEHOLD WHAT I HAVE DONE: (no really, I came up with this entire thing, concept to submission, on Sunday...)

And wow, it's already funded 10% of my costs. I'm so happy. So, so happy. Like - FLOORED. But wow, let's see where it goes! Thank you! So much!

quiet fantasy book / so queer, so goth / Emily wants it / dragons and plant magic
Let's do it.

Today's Reading

In pure gratitude for all that has been done so far, I'd like to read to you the first chapter of Night Ivy on Facebook Live, and sticking around to chat if anyone is on. I'd love to see you! (I tried to use YouTube but there's a 24 hour waiting period, so today, FB.)

Maybe I will see you there?

Seriously

I can't get over the love on this. I wish I could better express what it means to me. Thank you, so much - ♥, Emily.

Night Ivy Candles! (One run only.)
over 2 years ago – Tue, Nov 01, 2022 at 10:27:41 AM

Hello! I hope you are enjoying (or looking forward to) Night Ivy. I am extremely thrilled with the next book in Xelle's journey, Inkbloom, and will have a cover reveal soon. (To see it first, follow along on my social media, links at edebell.com.)

So, your question might be: Can you afford a hardcover for Inkbloom? Sigh. Not now. And if I have to fund it via its own campaign, I will, because I believe in this story and that it will be seen. However, there is another path! Just today, we've launched a campaign to fund an audiobook for our 2019 paranormal queer literary fantasy roadtrip (it's amazing) The Traveling Triple-C Incorporeal Circus, written by Alanna McFall and performed by C. S. E. Cooney. Along with that, we are offering exclusive, fun and quirky treasures based on our six 2022 releases (including Night Ivy) plus copies of those six books. So, please let people know! Books! Treasures! Joy!

Also. Ok, ok. *waves hands around excitedly* - wait until you hear the Night Ivy scent we've designed? Ready?

"A botanical accord of forest fern, green leaves, and trimmed stems, blended with a floral bouquet of passion at its heart. Earthy basenotes of musk add softness to the fragrance."

I mean, I'm ready to smell that.

Anyway, I have no idea how big this can go, but if we can get the audiobook funded we can look at stretch goals like funding the Inkbloom hardcovers! I know money is tight and the candles will be prohibitive for some - you can get the audiobook plus e-book at every pledge level, starting at $1 - and sharing this link out and letting people know helps us out so much. This campaign directly supports more than a dozen indie artists, so I am going to give it my all. Any help is seen and deeply appreciated! Sending love and best wishes - ♥, Emily.

A New Fantasy Adventure! (And my own adventure, this weekend.)
over 2 years ago – Tue, Oct 11, 2022 at 09:12:22 AM

World-saving squids!

It's me, again. And what a year. And, as you'll see at the end, it is by no means over. : )

First, I want to let you know I am loving the Night Ivy sequel more and more and more the more I work on it. It's going a little slower than I'd thought but 1) that means the press is continuing to have amazing projects for my attention 2) that also means I am not pushing myself inappropriately as I used to do. I'm still hoping for not too long of a wait, because I love the second book a ton. A ton a ton.

Today, I want to tell you about a pretty special release. Today is a celebration of this amazing author and the beauty he has created, but I will whisper to you here, in case you find it compelling, I really threw my heart into working with Brandon on these edits. And. Every time I had another chance to read the book, I was so excited to do so.

Now, there is more violence in this than my current writing, so if that's a concern, please see the content notes on the website. But for me, it was ok, and we took care to not glorify the violence or present it gratuitously.

I mean, I could go into it at length, but I'm just going to say if you enjoy high fantasy with rich characters, world-protecting squids, and a dose of (Emily-infused) middle-aged angst, please give Catalyst a look:

https://atthisarts.com/product/catalyst

And now that our 2022 releases are all out in the world (wow, wow, just wow...like what a road, truly) any help you'd like to offer letting people know, recommending them, sharing posts, requesting from libraries, on and on - is so important to our business. Right now, and to see what we can do in the years we have to do it.

Here it is, 2022 from Atthis Arts, in all of the glory we could find: (And please let people know!)

There is more. Two really big things. (Um, when I say it like that...anyway.)

1) I am so pumped, like so so pumped, for my very first Guest of Honour appearance, at Can*Con in Ottawa this weekend. I will be posting on social media with some backstage dish in my Discord.

2) The new releases? We will be celebrating them throughout November with a Big Campaign. I will have more to say about this soon, but there are treasures, including a custom Night Ivy candle (the description already has me needing this candle now) and it would be really super if you could give it a follow and let people know!

Thank you for being here. You are so solid for me, and I'm so grateful.

My best to each of you -

♥ - Emily.
